The Sun is the most-read news brand in the UK, while the Guardian is the most trusted publication, according to data from the Published Audience Measurement Company (PAMCo).
The yearly report from October 2017 to September 2018 indicates News UK’s The Sun has the largest monthly reach of all newspapers, with a 29.4m audience across print and digital platforms.
The Daily Mail is in second place, with a 26.7m reach, followed by the Guardian’s 23.4m audience.
The Guardian also ranked as the number-one newspaper for under-35s, and is considered the most trusted news brand in the UK, with 90% of its readers trusting what they read in its pages.
According to Guardian News & Media editor-in-chief Katharine Viner, the newspaper’s performance is due to the strength of its editorial content and engagement efforts. “This fantastic set of results demonstrates the Guardian’s unique position in the media,” she said.
“We see consistently high scores for trust and engagement from both our digital and print readers, and it is excellent news that the Guardian resonates so strongly with younger audiences, too.”
