Yodel removed from stores not processing enough parcels

One retailer has called the loss of Yodel to their store a "kick in the teeth"

Yodel’s parcel service has been removed from a number of stores processing low volumes of parcels, PayPoint has confirmed.

PayPoint, who operates the Collect+ network, has written to retailers to inform them of the changes. They came into force this month.

The letter, seen by Better Retailing, said: “Yodel has been reviewing parcel volumes across the UK and has identified a number of stores that, unfortunately, do not process enough parcels to offer the service.”

Cardiff retailer Qasim Din, who runs 8 Till Late, has been with Yodel and Collect+ since it started. He called Yodel’s withdrawal from his store “a kick in the teeth”.

Yodel withdrawal means stores may lose customers to local competitors

Din said: “I was getting roughly five to 15 Yodel parcels daily. It used to be a lot more but recently drivers have ruined the service by missing deliveries. Now they’ve taken it away from my store, but my competitors – the nearest being a One Stop – still have it, so my customers will go there.”

A spokesperson for PayPoint said: “Yodel’s services are being removed from a small number of sites that were processing very low volumes of parcels. Eight Till Late in Cardiff has already had the majority of other carriers set live in their store to help drive volumes, including Royal Mail, Amazon, DPS, FedEx, UPS and more.”

PayPoint took full ownership of Yodel in 2020. In September 2024 it reported an overall increase in its network from 11,786 to 13,421 in six months.

“In order to meet the ever-growing demand for in-store parcel pick up and drop off in the UK, we continue to invest in the expansion of the Collect+ network.” PayPoint added.
