The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust (LTCT), which provides financial aid for the families of those working in the convenience, grocery, and pharmacy trades, has announced a renewed focused on educational-specific support for 2024.
An independent charity, the LTCT’s purpose for this year and beyond will be supporting the families of convenience, pharmacists, grocery workers* and commercial teams within food and drink manufacturers** by contributing to the educational costs of students up to PhD level, helping them reach their academic potential.
Originally founded in 1925 by Lord Leverhulme, The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust is dedicated to supporting individuals through education, with the belief that in turn this will benefit local communities, and society as a whole. The creation of a new distinct charitable identity for the trust, with a focus on educational support, will be rolled out over the coming months, making it easier to reach and engage with those who are eligible.
As part of the relaunch, the LTCT has unveiled new university and vocational bursaries, open to those in financial need.
Professor Anna Vignoles CBE FBA, Director at The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust, says: “The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust has been providing financial aid for disadvantaged families in the grocery and pharmacy trades for nearly 100 years. With the importance of education at the heart of our organisation, we are now delighted to offer educational support from school to university and for a wider range of people.
“Our bursaries recognise the importance of supporting a diverse range of children and young people so that they can continue their education despite facing economic disadvantages. We firmly believe that aiding people’s educational development can not only lead to helping them to reach their academic potential, but also benefits the wider communities they live in.”
“The grocery and pharmacy trades are pillars of the UK economy and for those whose parents or families work in these trades, The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust is committed to helping them pursue their educational goals.”
