Retailers were unable to submit their delivery orders to Booker following an outage with the wholesaler’s website.
Store owners had reported issues uploading their orders through the website on the morning of 17 March following a scheduled update. Better Retailing understands Booker had temporarily taken the website down while it was investigating and finding a resolution to the problem.
Despite the issues, Seann Sykes, of Premier Denmores in Rhyl, praised Booker for ensuring retailers could still receive their orders as scheduled. He told Better Retailing: “We still got our deliveries the next day and this was down to the staff at Booker. They worked overtime to ensure we could still get our orders in. The website was back up at 4pm and there have been no issues since.”
Booker has been approached by Better Retailing for comment.
The issues come as Bestway and Nisa both suffered separate errors with their IT systems last month. In Nisa’s instance, the personal information of retailers had been leaked online, while an IT incident within Bestway led to the closure of cash and carries for a day.
