Blean Village Londis has become the first store in the country to stock Sibylla, a Swedish hot dog brand.
The Canterbury store, run by Independent Achievers Academy award winner Bintesh Amin, is one of the four stores that were confirmed to be part of a trial at the time Retail Express went to press.
Sibylla offers retailers a ‘shop within a shop’ concept, which can cater for a range of different sized stores with units ranging from 60cm to 210cm wide.
The unit can be ready to cook within 20 minutes of switching on.
The hot dogs can be kept warm beforehand, but the bread is prepared fresh in front of the customer.
Richard Tyler, who is working as a consultant for Sibylla, told Retail Express that retailers can still get involved with the trial by sending a message to the brand on its website.
“Retailers fed back at the ACS Summit last month that hot food to go is the biggest opportunity for convenience stores. Sibylla is all about offering the freshest food to go and preparing it on demand,” he added.
Sibylla was first established in 1932 and now has 4,000 outlets across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
