Suppliers heat up summer sales

Manufacturers are getting saucy and hoping to get sales sizzling ahead of barbecue season with a raft of new products and activity.

Colman’s has added two flavours to its sauces range. Chunky Burger and Fiery BBQ Chilli are available to retailers from May, joining Smokey BBQ, Garlic Chilli and Chilli Mango flavours, which launched last year. They come in 150ml bottles, RRP £1.69.

Heinz is also spicing up the category with four chilli sauce flavours. Sweet Chilli, Jerk BBQ, Peri Peri and Hot Pepper launched last month in top-down 220ml bottles, RRP £1.69.

Tapping into barbecue season as well as this year’s World Cup is Encona’s new Brazilian BBQ Sauce. The limited edition variant, RRP £1.59, is available now.

Finally, Oxo’s Shake & Flavour range is heading back to TV in May and June as part of a £1.3m campaign to drive sales over the summer.
