Snappy Shopper has raised more than £1.5k in funds for charity GroceryAid, which provides support to those in the grocery industry. The money was raised through Snappy’s first charity football match at Starks Park in Kirkaldy, Fife.
The event, held on 31 July, featured two 11-a-side teams comprising Snappy Shopper employees and retailers from across Scotland, including representatives from Premier stores.
Mike Callachan, CEO of Snappy Shopper, said: “We were thrilled to bring together our local retailers and communities for this incredible charity football match. Supporting GroceryAid is something we are deeply passionate about, as they provide crucial support to our industry. Hosting this match was not only a fun way to connect with our partners but also a powerful opportunity to give back.”
The match itself raised £770 through donations from both players and spectators, which was then matched by Snappy Shopper, doubling the total funds raised to support GroceryAid.
GroceryAid offers services to grocery industry workers such as a confidential 24/7 helpline, access to qualified counsellors, and financial grants for those in need.
Girish Jeeva, owner of Girish’s Premier Barmulloch in Glasgow, added: “Snappy Shopper did an amazing job organising such a fun and meaningful event. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved—well done to the entire team.”
