Shelfhelp retailers rework toiletries and laundry ranges with support from Procter & Gamble

Procter & Gamble is testing new ShelfHelp principles within convenience stores to help retailers make more from laundry, baby and toiletries.

Procter & Gamble is testing new merchandising principles within convenience stores to help retailers make more from laundry, baby and toiletries.

The refresh is taking place in stores owned by retailers who are part of the company’s ShelfHelp category advice initiative.

Spar retailer Raj Aggarwal worked with P&G to introduce a range of nappies for newborns, as well as smaller packs of laundry washing liquids.

“By stocking nappies for newborn babies, we can win the custom of new parents and help them create the habit of coming to our store from the start,” he told Retail Express.

“We’re also now offering £1.99 smaller bottles of liquids, which we were missing out on before. These make the category more accessible to shoppers. We’re about a month into the trials but we’ve definitely seen an uplift.”

The ShelfHelp panel, which includes Londis retailer Atul Sodha, Spar’s Susan Connolly and Nisa retailer Rav Garcha, will meet again in November to assess the results.

The company has also launched a series of videos which show interviews with the ShelfHelp retailers on YouTube and its trade website.
