Sales bump for Blakemore’s Spar ‘flagships’

Spar retailers who redeveloped their stores under Blakemore Trade Partners’ ‘Flagship Store’ programme have experienced 30% sales growth.

Spar retailers who redeveloped their stores under Blakemore Trade Partners’ ‘Flagship Store’ programme have experienced 30% sales growth.

The programme has helped eight retailers across England and Wales increase their margins by 1% and 2% since its launch in May. Support in the programme focuses on developing shopper missions and the food-to-go category by adding equipment, such as deli counters alongside ice cream and milkshake machines.

Blakemore Trade Partners’ head of store formats, John Murray, said: “The Flagship Store programme focuses on improving space, range and price to deliver the best results for each format and location.

“This is a long-term strategy whereby store formats are continually evolved based on changing shopper needs, customer insight and detailed understanding of shopper missions, so stores can reflect the needs of communities and offer customers convenience.”

The support comes as Blakemore Trade Partners announced managing director Stuart Adkin will leave the company by the end of the month.
