Sainsbury’s is supplying its own label range into convenience stores across Guernsey and Channel Islands as part of a new export business.
A spokesperson from the supermarket confirmed the division to Better Retailing, stating: “Sainsbury’s is working with Curatyx on a licence basis to export Sainsbury’s own brand products internationally. Alliance in Guernsey & Channel Islands is the first to land.”
They were unable to confirm whether this would lead to the multiple reviving its short-lived wholesale business. The wholesale arm was pulled in 2021, leaving former supply partners Simply Fresh and Jersey-based First Choice Groceries, among other retailers, frustrated.
Rival Waitrose also has its own export business, supplying small shops on the Channel Islands.
