Sales across Sainsbury’s convenience estate grew by 10.5%, offsetting decline at the multiple’s supermarkets.
The firm revealed the positive performance for its Local format in its trading results for the 28 weeks ending 17 September. During the same period the previous year, growth for Sainsbury’s convenience arm was 4.9%. The uplift was the strongest in city centre and urban locations.
In comparison, Sainsbury’s continued to see an annual decline of 0.5% in total sales across its supermarkets during the six-month period.
