Royal Mail parcel lockers to be installed at convenience stores

The initiative is designed to help retailers boost footfall, serve communities, and earn extra income

Royal Mail has partnered with C-Store Collective to expand its parcel locker network by installing units in or near convenience stores across the UK.

The initiative is designed to give local retailers a new way to increase footfall, serve their communities and earn additional income.

Royal Mail’s parcel lockers are secure, self-service units that allow customers to send, receive and return parcels at a time that suits them. The lockers are already in use across the country, and this partnership aims to make them even more accessible by locating them close to convenience stores.

In addition to increased footfall retailers will benefit from a rental fee for hosting the lockers and no operational burdens, with Royal Mail handling installation and servicing.

What benefits will the Royal Mail lockers bring to convenience stores?

C-Store Collective will work alongside Royal Mail to identify suitable retail locations and support stores through the setup process.

Jonathan Rons, co-founder at C-Store Collective, described the project as a “practical community-focused solution that benefits everyone”.

He added: “Retailers get more people through the door and a rental payment. Customers get more choice and convenience. And Royal Mail continues to modernise its service in a way that fits with how people live and shop today.”
