The firm is working with independent convenience retailers for the first time

An independent retailer has reduced annual labour costs by £25,000 after outsourcing accounting, EPoS management, stock ordering and waste services through Chase & Co.

The firm works with stores to help reduce overheads. it provides support on bookkeeping, ensuring sales data is accurately recorded, preventing overordering of stock and wastage analysis. Retailers who are opening new stores can also receive support from the company.

Worcestershire-based Costcutter and Simply Fresh retailer Chaz Chahal, became one of Chase & Co’s first retail partners in summer 2024.

Store decreases labour costs by 50% through outsourcing

Chahal told Better Retailing the partnership helped reduce annual costs by £25,000. This is equivalent to a 50% drop in labour costs for his store. Chahal outsourced tasks such as invoicing, monitoring of Smiths News updates, accounts and range amendments, among many other tasks, to the firm.

He added: “We have a dedicated manager and a lot of work is done before we even wake up because of a five-hour time difference. A lot of monotonous tasks are done remotely. This frees up lots of time for shopfloor tasks.

“It took some training at the start, but all the tasks we assign are done very efficiently now. The support manager we have is included in the WhatsApp groups for our different stores, so they can converse with staff and provide updates really quickly.”
