Retail crime survey calls for government grant funding

Have your say now – National Business Crime Centre, USDAW and MPs have already pledged their support

Retail crime survey

NFRN retailers have teamed up with Better Retailing to launch a retail crime survey calling on the government to provide grant funding to help them invest in store security.

The survey will be live for a month and has already received backing from industry leaders and MPs.

Scottish retailer Hussan Lal has urged retailers to participate: “In order for this to happen retailers must be committed to filling out the survey, so that we can get a real picture of what is needed and how they can be supported,” he said.

Business shadow minister Bill Esterson has already pledged his support: “I will support measures that bring peace of mind and security to shop workers in the face of criminal activity,” he explained.

NFRN national president Stuart Reddish added: “I would encourage all retailers to take part in the survey so councils and the government can be lobbied to assist in providing grant funding to store owners to improve their security and better protect themselves, their employees and their staff. Such measures will not protect against theft, but could help save lives.”

The National Business Crime Centre and USDAW have also backed the campaign.

A £50 cash prize will be awarded to one of the participants in a draw once the survey closes on 15 April.
