Grocemania pledges not to charge retailers ‘unacceptable fees’

Online delivery provider Grocemania has pledged to side with retailers by not charging Deliveroo’s ‘unacceptable fees’.

Online delivery provider Grocemania has pledged to side with retailers by not charging Deliveroo’s ‘unacceptable fees’.

More than 32 retailers, including Londis and Budgens stores, across London are registered with Grocemania.

Like Deliveroo, products are ordered online, then packed by a third-party courier, but Grocemania doesn’t charge a £400 joining fee, and makes money from a £2.50 delivery charge.

Founder Askar Bulegenov told RN participating stores process up to 12 orders of £22 per week, on average. “It’s unacceptable Deliveroo is charging small businesses so much money,” he said.

The trend comes as Uber Eats’ UK and Ireland general manager, Toussaint Wattinne, said the firm has to “engage more retailers” to fuel its growth.
