Price hike for EuroMillions to double the number of UK millionaires

Camelot is increasing the price of its EuroMillions game from September to introduce changes that will double the number of millionaires in the UK.

As part of a range of changes, the cost per line for EuroMillions will rise to £2.50 and the number of Lucky Stars from which players can choose will expand from 11 to 12.

The game will operate bigger promotions and give away higher, more frequent jackpots that will guarantee at least two UK millionaires in every draw.

The improved promotions will include draws offering jackpots of around £100m and new “must-be-won” pan-European raffle events – the European Millionaire Maker – the first of which is expected to take place at the end of October and will create an additional 25 millionaires.

At the end of every month, the Lotto operator will run ‘mega weeks’ to give away £1m prizes and luxury lifestyle experiences.

Tickets for the new EuroMillions game will go on sale on September 24, with the first draw due to take place on September 27.

Sally Cowdry, consumer & retail director at Camelot, said: “EuroMillions has always captured the UK public’s imagination. It’s now time to re-energise the game and take it to the next level – and these fantastic enhancements will do just that, helping us to deliver even more for our players and UK Good Causes in the years to come.”
