The Post Office (PO) asked nearly 50 senior managers to return bonuses after it made false claims around the Horizon inquiry in its annual results.
An investigation by PO released last week found a measure to pay bonuses for helping the Horizon inquiry “to finish in line with expectations” was “completely inappropriate”, and was awarded despite the inquiry not having concluded.
PO claimed there had been “no deliberate intention” to mislead.
PO said it was “difficult to understand” how the error went unnoticed.
