The Post Office is now the DVLA’s exclusive third-party provider of international driving permits as the service has been extended to 2,500 branches.

The permits, initially available at 89 branches, cost £5.50 and allow UK travellers to drive abroad. Previously the permits were also available through the AA and the RAC. Post Office customers can purchase three versions of the permits, which cover 100 countries.

Postmaster Subash Patel, who manages a Post Office in London’s Canary Wharf, said: “Our branch serves lots of people who are making preparations to travel, both for work and pleasure, and it’s great that we can be their one stop travel shop.”
