Retailers have hailed the “positive impact” of the Post Office’s banking remuneration increase introduced last month.
On top of a per transaction commission, main branches now receive £1 per £1,000 banked, up from 37p, while local branches receive 87p per £1,000, up from 24p.
One anonymous postmaster explained their banking remuneration has risen to an additional £80 per month.
Vince Malone of Tenby Post Office in Pembrokeshire, added: “It is a move in the right direction, but I would still like to see us paid more.”
Joe Williams of The Village Shop & Post Office in Oxfordshire agreed: “There is an increase in admin, but every little helps.”
