Vaping should be de-regulated and tax levels should remain low according to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee.
The Committee’s report said the limitations on refill strengths and sizes and on advertising e-cigarettes should be removed. The move would allow retailers to sell and advertise a larger range of products to their customers. It would also allow tobacco manufacturers to insert vaping promotional material into tobacco packs.
Commenting on the tax status, the report said: “E-cigarettes should remain the least-taxed and conventional cigarettes the most, with heat-not-burn products falling between the two.”
The report also called for an urgent review of the prescription of e-cigarettes by the NHS.
