PayPoint has launched a new partnership with Leeds Credit Union (LCU) to allow LCU’s 37,000 members to use PayPoint’s Cash Out service in its 29,000 retail locations across the UK.
Under the partnership, LCU customers, who previously needed to travel to one of LCU’s four branch locations, can now conduct essential cash transactions in convenience stores, giving shops a chance for increased footfall. PayPoint’s Cash Out service enables shops to issue cash or energy credits to customers through vouchers issued by e-mail, letter or SMS, with this latest expansion described by PayPoint as “an unprecedented growth in accessibility and the first partnership of its kind for LCU.”
PayPoint managing director of payments Jo Toolan said: “Our partnership with Leeds Credit Union will enable its customers to access their funds more easily than ever before. We’re committed to pursuing these kinds of partnerships, which enable credit unions to offer a more competitive and technologically advanced service, while simultaneously making the lives of customers that little bit easier through enhanced access.”
Retailers experience PayPoint card transaction issues
Greg Potter, head of marketing & member experience at Leeds Credit Union, said: “Increasingly, we’re looking at ways that we can apply technological solutions and partnerships to add value to the experience of our members using Leeds Credit Union. This partnership is demonstrative of our determination to grow in their best interests and will make access to funds something that can be done at any of a number of PayPoint locations in the UK.”
Last month, Better Retailing reported that PayPoint was set to introduce a Retailer Rewards Program, which gives shops the opportunity to earn commission by scanning product barcodes, adding to a suite of earning opportunities for stores which also includes a benefit program through the firm’s partnership with Lloyd’s Bank Cardnet.
