A planned 1.5p payment for over-the-counter returns and 3.1p payment for DRS machine returns were announced by Scottish environment secretary Roseanna Cunningham at a Zero Waste Scotland meeting last week, according to the SGF.
The MSP said this was lower than in other countries due to the higher level of competition in the UK.
NFRN DRS steering group member Mo Razzaq attended the meeting and said: “There needs to be a fairer reflection in the retailer rates.”
However, machine manufacturer Tomra’s UK managing director, Truls Haug, told RN the commissions were some of the highest he had seen.
