Wholesaler Parfetts has doubled its retail development team to provide more support to retailers.
The Stockport-based company has 20 retail development advisors (RDA) working from depots in Middlesbrough, the Midlands and North Wales.
Parfetts retail director Guy Swindell told RN the team will support retailers on increasing their sales and on responding to new legislation.
“We’ll try to have our RDAs visit designated retailers at the start of each promotional period every three weeks,” he said.
“We want them to be the main point of contact and support for the 3,400 retailers we work with and help them look at areas such as merchandising, ranging and how to increase their sales.
“There will also be support and training on regulation such as the track and trace legislation to combat illicit tobacco.”
Swindell added that the expansion of its field team has been driven by the acquisition of new depots.
In June, the wholesaler had expanded its reach across north-east England with the purchase of Blakemore Wholesale’s Middlesbrough depot. “We have a team who can help us speak to retailers in areas we’ve never been to before,” said Swindell.
