Parfetts former joint managing director and industry veteran Greg Suszczenia has passed away following a brave fight against brain cancer.
Suszczenia passed over the weekend of 19 November and had helped raise a significant sum of money for The Brain Tumour Charity. At the time of writing, his JustGiving page for the charity had generated more than £33,000.
His career spans several decades across retail and wholesale. He was appointed general manager of wholesaler Parfetts in 1998 before moving on to operate his own independent retail business in 2004. He returned to Parfetts in 2009 as trading director, where he helped develop its Go Local symbol group. Suszczenia then became joint managing director of the firm in 2014, before retiring in 2021.
Parfetts joint managing director Guy Swindell said: “Greg was a dedicated colleague who will be remembered fondly by everyone at Parfetts. He led Parfetts through a period of sustained expansion and had a passion for the industry that was clear to everyone he met.
“He retired last year from the industry after a career that spanned buyer, depot manager, trading director and joint managing director at Parfetts. Greg helped oversee the successful transition from a family-owned to an employee-owned business and also served on the Unitas board. He was a respected voice in the wholesale sector. We share our condolences with his wife, Bev and two sons, Michael and Kristian.”
