A pilot scheme to help make reporting crime easier in Sussex has helped log more than 600 crimes since its launch.

‘One Touch Reporting’, created in conjunction with National Business Crime Solution, is operating in 22 Co-op stores in the region.

Speaking at the All Party Parliamentary Group for Retail Crime last week, Sussex police and crime commissioner Katy Bourne revealed the technology had identified 27 offenders, with 18 being listed as prolific, carrying out two or more of the crimes.

“There is a natural hesitation to switch it on to all 80 stores, but we have to ensure what is reported doesn’t clog up our contact centre,” she said.
