One Stop and Unitas Wholesale to issue HFSS support

Stores in England measuring 2,000sq ft or more will be banned from displaying products such as chocolate and crisps by gondola ends and the till

HFSS High fat salt and sugar foods

One Stop and Unitas Wholesale are to release supporting materials to help independent retailers better understand which products are compliant with upcoming high fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) legislation.

From October, stores in England measuring 2,000sq ft or more will be banned from displaying products such as chocolate and crisps by gondola ends and the till. Restrictions limiting multibuy offers are also to be imposed from October next year.

To support independent retailers, Unitas Wholesale has launched a tool designed to help store owners identify which of their products are HFSS-compliant. Unitas Plan for Profit controller Tracey Redfearn said: “With many brands set to reformulate their key lines to ensure compliance, it is important that retailers are aware of the products this new legislation affects.

“The Plan for Profit HFSS product check tool allows retailers to identify which of their stocked lines are HFSS-compliant, as well as those that are impacted, so they can make an informed decision about potential changes to their product range.”

One Stop head of franchise John Miller added that the convenience chain has also implemented additional support. He said: “To help franchisees identify One Stop-supplied HFSS products, our store communications team will send an ongoing and full list of products highlighting the HFSS status of those items.”
