Scottish retailers hail new Fife Creamery deal

Ferhan Ashiq said the deal with Fife Creamery will help retailers who are currently facing availability shortfalls

The NFRN’s Scottish district president Ferhan Ashiq marked the district’s first official meeting since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic by announcing the first of several deals in the pipeline for Scottish members.

Speaking at the meeting on 12 November, the retailer revealed exclusive terms with leading supplier Fife Creamery designed to help stores capitalise on opportunities presented by the crisis.

Preferential rates on orders from Fife Creamery are only available for NFRN members in Scotland.

The chilled goods and food-to-go supplier has expanded its offering to categories including frozen foods, fresh butcher meat and fresh produce.

The wholesaler also offers merchandising, online ordering and “full all-year promotional packages”.

The minimum drop is just £50. Sales director Steve Appolinari explained the deal, stating: “The latest [new] range of frozen foods is available at extremely keen prices to NFRN retailers that sign up to trading with Fife Creamery.”

NFRN district council meetings resume

The district president described the terms as better than those offered by many wholesalers and said it would help stores facing availability issues through their existing supply chains.

Speaking to Better Retailing after the meeting, he advised that an NFRN price file has been created and will be made available to any NFRN Scotland member than can present their NFRN membership number.

“It was well received. It’s exactly what districts should be doing – helping members to run their businesses,” he said.
