NFRN Connect, NFRN Direct and the administration department will all make the move, with a skeleton team remaining in London at new smaller premises. Newly appointed chief operating officer Greg Deacon will also stay in London.
National president Stuart Reddish said the move should help the NFRN to stay fit for purpose over the next 100 years.
“Having been based predominantly in London for our first 100 years, we have taken the momentous decision to consolidate our operations outside of the capital. Following a review of our business and a lengthy debate at a special national council meeting on 21 August, it was agreed that our head office and its operations will relocate,” Reddish said.
“The new headquarters will also house employees from our helpline service NFRN Connect, as well as NFRN Direct and the administration department, who currently work out of our Gilesgate offices in Durham.
“The move is scheduled to take place in early December and is expected to offer many benefits to the NFRN, including some significant cost savings. This obviously marks an exciting time for the federation, but we are conscious that for some staff there will be some difficult decisions to be made regarding relocating and a consultation period is now underway with those affected.”
