The NFRN is calling on retailers to voice their concerns about the sugar tax in support of the soft drink industry’s ‘Face the facts, can the tax’ campaign.
Members of the NFRN will be sent a pack containing a letter from chief executive Paul Baxter, an A4 poster, a letter to send to their MP and a postcard aimed communicating the affect the sugar tax will have on small stores to the Chancellor.
An ‘action day’ will take place on September 16.
“Retailers have already been subjected to economic business pressures,” Baxter said. “This is yet another unnecessary cost that will hurt members.”
Last month, Retail Express discovered that more than 25% of small retailers’ soft drinks will be affected by the sugar tax.
