NewstrAid offers £250 cost-of-living support fund to retailers

Charity NewstrAid is offering up to £250 to those working in the sale or distribution of newspapers and magazines, as part of its cost-of-living crisis fund.

Applicants must meet a set of criteria to secure the support. This includes working or having worked in the sector for a minimum of two years, have less than £6,000 in household savings and be in receipt of a state benefit.

Chief executive Neil Jagger said: “With millions of people cutting back on energy use and reducing their spend on food and essentials as a direct result of the cost-of living crisis, we felt it was vital to launch a fund that can provide some financial assistance to anyone in the industry who is finding it difficult to make ends meet.”

The news comes after NewstrAid increased the amount of the winter comfort grant it paid to their most vulnerable existing beneficiaries in October. Jagger added: “This fund has been created with those who don’t already receive help from us in mind. The cost-of-living crisis is putting everyone’s finances under pressure and this aims to help those whose household finances are at breaking point.”

Stores interested in applying should visit the NewstrAid website for details at newstraid.org.uk
