Industry charity NewstrAid has revealed it will be holding a 185th birthday raffle as part of its anniversary celebrations this summer.
Those from the newspaper and magazine industry are being invited to enter the raffle in order to help raise money for the work NewstrAid undertakes every year to support colleagues who are going through challenging times.
Tickets are available online and the draw is scheduled to take place at the charity’s AGM in June. Prizes include a dinner at an Ivy restaurant and £150 of John Lewis vouchers.
NewstrAid CEO Neil Jagger said: “Following the success of our recent Christmas raffles we thought we would mark our 185th birthday with a special summer raffle that people can enter online. There are some great prizes up for grabs thanks to support from our industry partners Seymour Distribution, Inter-Media and DMG Media and we hope that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to wish us a ‘happy birthday’ by entering the draw.”
In 2023 NewstrAid saw a 98% increase in new applications for help and paid out more than £835k to households in need as the nation struggled with rising bills.
Jagger added: “The charity may have been founded in Victorian times but our commitment to supporting people from the newspaper and magazine industry remains constant. Our 185th birthday is an opportunity for us to highlight all the support we have to offer. Whether you are struggling financially or facing mental health challenges, we are here to help and all proceeds from the raffle will be used to fund this vital work.
