Nisa forecourt chain Redbeck Group has made a premium food-to-go franchise available to other retailers. The Yoh Burger brand launched in 2018 as a centrally operated concept at the firm’s Rotherham site and offers premium burgers, snacks and desserts as a separate concession to its forecourts.
Redbeck Group managing director Fuzail Patel told Better Retailing that Yoh Burger was launched due to a frustration with existing food-to-go options on the market.
“The first Yoh Burger franchise is being launched in Manchester,” Patel explained. “It’s become a strong enough format to expand. Concessions from other brands only allow you to hit the lunchtime trade, but not the evening. Yoh Burger offers a full food-to-go offering for both those occasions. We’re examining breakfast, but that period is limited.”
Range
The available range includes chicken and beef burgers, fries, cheesecakes, cookie dough, wraps, wings, tenders, salad boxes and vegan options. Customisable burger options are also available. Examples of pricing includes £8.95 for beef burgers, £7.95 for chicken rice boxes, £10 for wings, £29.95 for sharing boxes, £4.50 for fries and £6.95 for macaroni & cheese.
Although Patel declined to reveal sales figures of existing Yoh Burger sites, he stated each order made in store was “high value”.
The firm’s franchise director, Paolo Peretti, added: “The sharer trend has been growing for several years and there are a number of sizes and add-ons you can offer to drive up customer spending. Having that in a forecourt is very important. Customers will sit down to have a full meal, which is unique to a petrol station.”

A small or large Yoh Burger format is available to potential franchisees, with 1,000sq ft being the minimum size requirement. Retailers will also be required to invest around £165,000 and pay royalty, startup and marketing fees.
Peretti said: “This isn’t an entry-level franchise and not for those who haven’t done it before. We’re looking for someone with experience running one or two franchise sites.”
Support for retailers
Outlining the support provided to retailers, Peretti said: “All staff uniforms are provided and we’ll help from a marketing and operations perspective. Partners will receive support selecting the right team, pre- and post-opening support, a marketing platform, how to get the best from delivery platforms, stock ordering, health and safety, and employee management.
“We want to ensure everything is in place to support franchise partners as we roll out the model.”
