Lottery operator Camelot has revealed a surprise increase in overall ticket sales despite decreasing store sales.

Lottery operator Camelot has revealed a surprise increase in overall ticket sales despite decreasing store sales.

The company had predicted a reduction in overall sales this year but it said a successful turnaround plan had delivered a £26.4m revenue boost.

However, once the £130.3m increase in digital ticket sales were removed, retail sales for the year declined by £103.9m, or £2,308 per shop.

Bal Ghuman, from Premier AK Convenience store in Shrewsbury, said: “Scratch cards are strong-performing, but there has been no change in draw-based sales.”

Julie Meadows, from Premier Highfield Store in Honiton, said: “We have seen no difference at all overall, though there has been some progress with the new draw games.”
