Mars ready-to-drink milkshake supply disrupted following ‘quality standards’ concerns

The issue was due to quality concerns at the factory in Germany where the lines are produced

Retailers were left without Mars ready-to-drink milkshakes, following a decision to temporarily stop production over “quality standards” concerns.

Store owners reported being unable to get the 350ml bottles of Mars, Milky Way and Snickers chocolate drinks in July and August. Better Retailing understands the issue was due to quality concerns at the factory in Germany where the lines are produced.

Asked by Better Retailing to comment, a Mars UK spokesperson said: “Last month, we identified that a small sample of our milk drinks range did not conform to our quality standards.

“The issue posed no consumer food health or safety risk, but we took the decision to remove the affected stock from sale and suspend production, which is running again, to fully resolve the issue.”
