Lucozade Sport is supporting independent retailers with an exclusive Lemon & Lime flavour.
Available in 500ml £1 price-marked packs, the flavour will not be available in grocery multiples and comes in cases of 12.
The flavour contains 3.6g of sugar, so will be unaffected by the soft drinks levy, which is set to enter the market in 2018.
Steven Hind, brand marketing director at Lucozade Ribena Suntory, said despite being a popular flavour, lemon & lime currently underperforms in sports drinks.
“This flavour will give shoppers a reason to keep returning to their local store,” he added.
The brand will support the launch by visiting 18,000 retailers. It will also benefit from a £6m campaign.
Lucozade Sport’s last flavour launch, Mango & Passion Fruit, generated £3.2m in sales within wholesale.
