Nisa has claimed Camelot age checks are being failed in “high numbers” for age-restricted test purchases on lottery products.
A warning from the symbol group shared with Better Retailing by a store owner read: “Do not risk losing your lottery terminal, Camelot is reporting high numbers of Operation Child failures.”
Operation Child is the code name for the test purchases Camelot carries out to check shops are refusing underage sales.
Camelot previously said 91% of retailers successfully asked for ID in 2018. Asked to comment, Camelot refused to confirm or deny an increase in inspection failures this year.
