A convenience store has had its tobacco gantry ripped out after a raid uncovered illegal tobacco and cigarettes.
JTI swiftly removed its gantry from Deansbrook Supermarket in Edgware, north London, after it was caught out by trading standards officers.
The company has now taken 28 of its gantries from stores that have been found with illicit tobacco products.
The company reiterated its commitment to acting against retailers selling dodgy cigarettes.
Head of corporate affairs Charlie Cunningham-Reid said: “Our action in support of law enforcement agencies serves as a timely reminder to any retailer tempted to sell illegal tobacco products in their shops.”
