Local stores have an opportunity to grab extra customers as nearby supermarkets contract their Christmas trading hours.
In England and Wales, Morrisons, Co-op, Asda and Lidl are only closed for Christmas Day, as mandated by law, but some of these have reduced trading hours on other days.

However, Tesco, Waitrose, Aldi, M&S and Sainsbury’s were all reported to be closed on Christmas and Boxing Day. Aldi was also said to be closed on New Year’s Day.
