Kellogg’s has cut the amount of sugar in its cereal bars as part of its plan to remove 2,000 tonnes of sugar from the market by the end of 2017.
The sugar in Coco Pops Bars has been reduced by 24%, while Frosties and Rice Krispies bars have a 19% reduction. The new recipe also includes more vitamin D and extra fibre.
Dr Alexa Hoyland, senior nutrition manager at Kellogg’s, said: “We know parents want to give their children snacks that are better nutritionally. We also want to provide opportunities for parents to give their children vitamin D, which we know children are not getting enough of.”
Last year, the Government’s National Diet and Nutrition Survey showed Vitamin D intake in children is four times below the recommended amount.
