New high street loyalty app Just Shop Local allows independent convenience stores to entice local shoppers with tailored rewards, according to founder Jais George.
George told Better Retailing that customers scan QR codes in participating stores to join each shop’s loyalty scheme and gain access to exclusive rewards and offers chosen by the retailer.
“I wanted to bring all the high street shops together because I don’t foresee someone downloading lots of separate apps,” he said.
“It’s down to the shop to set the specifics, like how many points customers need to earn until they receive a reward, which again is determined by the retailer.”
There are three price packages available for retailers to choose from when signing up, including bronze (£10 a month), silver (£20 a month) and gold (£30 a month).

“The most basic model allows stores to offer just a loyalty scheme, with the next tier up enabling them to send in-app messages to customers, maybe about a new product,” said George.
“The most expensive tariff sees us taking responsibility for a specific store’s social media.”
However, George stressed that the uptake of the app depends on demographic usage.
“We are always looking for more stores, but its success depends how many other stores are participating in the same area,” he said.
