JTI unveils £7.8m distribution centre in Crewe

The company has worked in collaboration with the Business Disability Forum to make the building “as accessible-friendly as possible”

JTI has unveiled a £7.8m refurbishment into its National Distribution Centre in Crewe with a design that aims to “foster collaboration, drive operational excellence and enhance employee wellbeing”.

Drawing inspiration from Japanese design principles, the new space boasts 32 meeting rooms, a gym, yoga studio with weekly classes, a wellbeing room, multi-faith room, parenting room and tech-free relaxation space. Further additions include sit-stand desks and ergonomic chairs.

Laura Bailes, director at the Crewe branch said: “The redesigned space reflects our vision for the future of work, promoting agility, collaboration and a strong ‘one-team’ culture. We’ve created an environment where our employees can thrive, with dedicated wellbeing spaces, modern amenities and a design that inspires innovation.”

JTI’s Crewe site employs 70 people and a further 50 people through outsourced roles. It originally opened in 1994 under Gallaher Ltd, becoming part of JTI in 2007. It now handles the distribution of all JTI products within the UK, including bestselling tobacco brands Benson & Hedges, Mayfair, Nordic Spirit and Ploom products.
