The number of sales in local shops related to loyalty app Jisp trebled in 2023 as its Scan & Save rewards scheme won over stores and shoppers. Figures from the company show the number shoppers using the app increased by 21%, while the number of stores using the tool jumped by 62%.
Jisp’s Scan & Save app allows retailers to offer discounts and promotions to shoppers. Shoppers scan barcodes in partnered stores to reveal supplier-funded discounts. A wholesale version sees retailers scan barcodes in cash and carries to get savings.
The 2023 success is worth £3.5m in extra sales for stores using the platform, and savings of £875,000 for shoppers. This is an increase of 31.4% on the previous year meaning shoppers have saved 1.5m through Scan & Save since its launch. The number of suppliers with deals on Scan & Save leapt by 41%.
According to figures published by Jisp, retail sales through the Scan & Save app increased by 327% in 2023. Total scans of the app’s AR vouchers saw an upturn of 90% compared to the previous year. There were 1.9m scans through the app in 2023, bringing the total scans since launch to almost 3m.
“The level of growth we’ve experienced across the business has been phenomenal particularly the 327% increase in retail sales,” said Jisp’s managing director, Ilann Hepworth, in a statement accompanying the results. “It’s also pleasing that through what has been a tough year for shoppers we were able to provide savings of approaching £1m in a single year, including some strong pre-Christmas promotions to help out over the festive period.
Jisp claims the average Jisp shopper buys double the number of items and visits twice as often. More savings via Jisp’s cash and carry version are also on their way, with a “big wholesale announcement” promised soon.
