A Budgens in south London has been awarded the ‘Top Community Kingpin’ award by Time Out magazine for its support to food banks and local suppliers during the pandemic.
Jay’s Budgens in Brockley beat six other London businesses in the category, voted for by readers of the lifestyle magazine.
Store owner Jay Patel told Better Retailing: “The store has been here for 40 years and that would not have been possible without the community’s support. We donated hot food to go alongside tea and biscuits to six hospitals, food banks and churches nearby.”
