Innokin has launched its first water-based vape device, Aquios Bar.
The supplier said the device is a “highly disruptive newcomer” to the disposable vaping market with its coil design, specially formulated e-liquid which makes water-based vaping possible for the first time.
In using 30% water, the device’s technology reduces the propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) content in the e-liquid to support a “purer taste; lessen throat irritation and dehydration; and enhance chemical stability to maximise harm reduction”.
The result is a smoother vapour and cleaner flavour profiles, as well as a reduction in the sensation of dry mouth.
The supplier has invested £3m in the development of the product to resolve issues arising from previous attempts to create water-based vaping, due to water being much less viscous than PG and VG which causes leaking and flooding problems. This issue has been compounded by the fact that adding more wicking to the coil to stop leaking has resulted in the frequent occurrence of dry hits.
Aquios Bar is being launched in 10 varieties with an RRP of £5.99, and is available to convenience retailers now.
The product also offers a more environmentally friendly option since it uses fewer carbon-intensive materials, and the component parts can be disassembled for recycling afterwards.
