Wall’s to pilot new smart freezer cabinets

Wall’s ice cream manufacturer Unilever is trialling new freezer cabinets designed to help retailers avoid empty shelves. 

The firm confirmed the pilot last month, but gave no details of a further rollout into stores. It said: “Smart freezer cabinets are currently being piloted. These can capture products that are out of stock in the cabinet and send a push message to the store that suggests a quantity that can be ordered and sent automatically, drastically reducing the chance of running out of stock.”
