Buying group Procuria is developing vape recycling points for independent convenience stores.
The company’s commercial manager, Andy Coultas, told Better Retailing it had struck conversations with a vaping supplier for the service. He added: “This is something that is pressing and relevant because there isn’t a way to recycle vapes in stores.
“Our vaping supplier asked us to help develop a solution. Vapes are being chucked around and the government will take action. We’ve started looking at how we do that. There will be a cost element, as you can’t put devices with batteries in general waste.”
The development comes as retailers such as Trudy Davies, of Woosnam and Davies in Llanidloes, Powys, and Mo Razzaq, of Premier Mo’s Blantyre in Glasgow have already introduced vape recycling points into their stores.
