Retailers share their support for Home News Delivery Month

Retailers share how they are putting publisher discounts and promotional material to use during Home News Delivery Month.

Retailers have shared their tips for promoting Home News Delivery Month, which runs throughout October.

More than 1,300 retailers are taking part in the campaign with over 1,800 point of sale packs and 60,000 leaflets sent out by publishers, helping stores and roundsman sign up new customers with the help of exclusive reader subscription discounts.

Asked how they were backing the campaign, Tariq Netherlee, of Netherlee Post Office in Glasgow told RN “We’re attempting to grow our home newspaper delivery rounds through mailshots. We’re also pointing out that getting a paper delivered creates a job for a little person so that they can start to learn important life lessons.”

Chris Cobb, of Keystore Cults in Aberdeen added “Along with all support with all the major new titles we are running HND month – paper delivery people delivering leaflets on their rounds to houses we do not deliver to currently – hopefully new customers.”

Jonathan Wood of Best-One – Wood’s News & Convenience in Hazel Grove, Cheshire said: “We’ve been telling customers about the offers at the counter, on social media and we’ve paid all the kids 5p per leaflet to drop them round all the houses nearby. They’re going out combined with out symbol group’s promotional leaflets so it’s two opportunities for the same drop cost.”

Maqsood Akhtar of Blackthorn News & Food, in Rotherham, Yorkshire said “For Home News Delivery Month we are leaflet dropping and also offering free delivery for two weeks.”

Chris Tracey, Angies News, in Seaford, East Sussex revealed “As Autumn approaches we are advertising our newspaper delivery services in the local magazine.”

As part of an RN giveaway backed by Home News Delivery Month organisers, all five retailers are to receive a free newspaper delivery bag.

The campaign is also backed by the Fed, which has urged all members selling newspapers to sign up to the scheme at HNDMonth.co.uk
