The growth of Parfetts’ off-licence group ‘The Local’ continued last month with the launch of a site in Chesterfield.
The 800sq ft site is retailer Sharma Kumaresan’s first store branded in partnership with Parfetts. The wholesaler also operates cash and carries and the Go Local symbol group.
The Local focuses on smaller stores offering premium goods compared to Go Local’s emphasis on convenience and food to go. Kumaresan said he chose The Local fascia based on Parfetts’ availability, choice, value for money, promotions and support.
He explained: “Parfetts has been proactive and the support available is second to none. Stock availability is essential to me, and being the only off-licence in the area I want to be able to offer a range to customers that will drive repeat business and build loyalty. Working with Parfetts I know that this is covered.”
Kumaresan’s store is the area’s only off-licence
The store located on Station Lane is the first off-license in the area. Kumaresan explained that this was an important aspect of his strategy for the newly renovated site. The retailer commented: “This is a great space in an ideal location, so I wanted to make the most of it, providing a service where customers can take their time and browse the comprehensive range of beers, wines and spirits on offer.”
Steve Moore, head of retail at Parfetts, said: “Sharma is an ambitious, talented retailer who is keen to make an impact with his new venture. We’ve put simplicity at the heart of The Local. It’s built around the needs of our retailers with great value, regular promotions, and a simple rebate structure.”
Parfetts further said there are no joining fees, minimum spend or store size requirements for those looking to join The Local group. Retailers with The Local will also receive a 2% rebate, free delivery and an alcohol-line dominated promotions cycle.
