More than 5,000 convenience stores and other sites in the UK now have an InPost parcel locker, the company has announced.
The firm, which pays retailers £800+VAT per year for installing a 2m locker on their property, hit the milestone on 14 March. Outlining the opportunity for partnered retailers to use the lockers to generate extra sales, InPost claimed 54% of users of its Lidl located lockers also made a purchase in-store.
The firm also claimed the number of customers visiting its lockers has more than trebled year on year.
InPost International chief executive Michael Rouse explained :”In the last 12 months we have seen a huge appetite in the UK for convenient and hassle-free parcel services, and the rate at which we are growing shows that this mindset is here to stay.”
Alongside a large network of independent convenience stores, the firm said it had entered agreements with Transport for Greater Manchester, Morrisons, Vinted and WHSmiths to install lockers on its sites.
The growth means nearly half of residents in Birmingham, Manchester in London live within a seven minute walk of an InPost Locker.
