Independent shops partnered with National Lottery face fresh competition from Aldi

Aldi and Camelot intend to be selling The National Lottery in all Aldi stores by the end of June

Independent retailers are set to face fresh competition from Aldi, as the multiple has announced a partnership with The National Lottery operator Camelot.

The partnership will see Camelot bring The National Lottery to all of Aldi’s 900 UK stores for the first time.

From next month, The National Lottery’s full range of draw-based games will be available at Aldi store checkouts, such as Lucky Dip tickets for Lotto, EuroMillions, Lotto HotPicks, EuroMillions HotPicks, Set For Life and Thunderball games.

The rollout follows a successful trial in Aldi stores in the north of England. Aldi and Camelot intend to be selling The National Lottery in all Aldi stores by the end of June this year.

Retailers to face competition from Co-op’s new charity initiatives

Jenny Blogg, retail director at Camelot, said: “Making The National Lottery available in [Aldi] stores has been a priority for us as we continue to make playing The National Lottery as convenient and easy as possible for people, wherever and however they shop.”
